    (Middle School Ministry)

    • Our Mission:
St. John Neumann MSM (Middle School Youth Ministry) aims to help families evangelize and catechize their Middle Schoolers to become Disciples of Jesus Christ and lifelong Catholics.

      Our Vision:
We engage families to build relationships and belonging in our parish community, provide opportunities to encounter Christ, and empower families to be faithful participants in the life and mission of the Church.

      Our Objectives:
      • to support you in your role in your family by providing tools for parent/child interaction through intentional engagement and thoughtful conversation
      • to create connections of support between the home and parish community, particularly for parents
      • to enrich our daily, personal prayer lives with faith practices to increase our awareness of God's presence and intervention
    • The Details...

Middle School Ministry is a Youth Ministry made just for the best kids on the planet - our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders!  We gather each week in the Holy Family Center as a large group at the beginning of our event and then we will break into age/gender-specific small groups that remain consistent from week to week. Adult and high school mentors guide the students within their small groups through activities, discussion, and prayer.  Middle Schoolers will grow in their knowledge of the faith and mature that knowledge by making it personal by encountering Christ! We're excited to welcome all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to EDGE MSM!

      Who: All 6th - 8th grade students

When: Sunday mornings from 10:05AM to 11:20AM.  (Between the 9: 00AM and 11:30AM Masses.)

      Where: Holy Family Center

    • Here is the Take Home Page for Sunday, January 8th - Operation -
    • Join us for the Summit!

Middle Schoolers! Please join us on Fridays in the Eucharistic Chapel for the Summit from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm! It's a quick but a a good hour of studying and praying through the Scriptures that will be proclaimed at Mass!

By coming to The Summit, you and your friends will be better prepared to receive the message of the Sunday Mass readings!

You don't have to be registered to attend and you are welcome to bring a friend or two with you!

  • 8th Grade Faith Formation and Confirmation Preparation

    • The earliest a teen in the Diocese of Austin can receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is in the 9th grade after a two year preparation process.

The 8th grade of Faith Formation is generally when most teens start "Year 1 Confirmation." MSM (Middle School Ministry) meets between the 9:00 am and 11:30 am Masses, from 10:10 am through 11:20 am in the Holy Family Center.

But don't worry, if your teen is already in High School, they can still begin the two year process! Instead of the meeting in the morning, our High School Teens meet after the 5:00 pm Mass for High School Faith Formation. HSM (High School Ministry) meets for HSM Sunday after Mass in the Plaza for dinner, followed by the event in Morris Hall until 8:00 pm. Click HERE for more information about our High School Ministry and HERE for our Confirmation Preparation Program!
    • Attendance Policy

There are 20 MSM Sunday events this school year.  (Please see the MSM Calendar below for details.) There will be other events scheduled outside of our normal Sunday gatherings. There is a MSM retreat in October, and a variety of social, service, and spiritual  events throught the year.

According to the Diocese of Austin's Sacrament Preparation Policy, those teens in 8th grade (Year 1 Confirmation), must attend at least 80% of all MSM Sunday Events in order to advance to Year 2 Confirmation the next year when they enter High School. Year 1 students may not exceed four absences this school year.
