WHO WE ARE: FISHERS OF MANKIND
A joyous Catholic lay ministry for both women and men that addresses Jesus’ Commission of the Disciples (Mark 16:15), “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation” and in 1 Peter 3:15, “Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who calls you to account for the hope that is in you yet do it with gentleness and reverence” and in Matthew 4:19, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”.

A network of Catholic friends and community, inspired by scripture, prayer, and service,
growing in holiness, and actively spreading the message of Jesus and his Catholic Church.

HOW DO WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSIONOur mission is to spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to others. This involves
sharing our experiences of God’s love and grace in our own lives with others and encouraging
and helping them to build a relationship with God for themselves.
Firstly, it is important to understand the reasons behind our mission. As believers in Christ, we
are called to share the good news so that others can experience the same joy and freedom that
we have found in Him. We want others to know that they are loved by God and that their lives
can be transformed through faith in Him.
Secondly, we are required to be genuine and authentic in our interactions with others. It’s
important to build relationships with people and take time to listen to their stories, struggles,
and questions. This enables us to understand where they are coming from and to address their
concerns in a helpful and compassionate manner.
Thirdly, we need to become familiar with the Bible and be able to communicate its message in a
clear and simple way. This means learning the key messages of the Bible and being able to
share them with others in a relevant and engaging way. It also requires us to be willing to
answer difficult questions and to acknowledge when we don’t have all the answers.
Finally, we must trust in God’s power and guidance as we engage in spreading the good news.
It’s not our job to convert people; rather, it is our job to share the good news and let the Holy
Spirit do His work in the hearts and lives of those we encounter.
In summary, we are involved in spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to others through
genuine relationships, knowledge of the Bible, and trust in God’s power. As we engage in this
important task, we can be confident that God will use us to bring hope and change into the lives
of those around us.

WHAT WILL I DO IN THIS MINISTRY
Grow in Friendship
The spirituality, friendship, and service that are part of your membership
in FOM should be part of your personal life as well. You will be
encouraged to find ways to develop and live out these values in all
aspects of your life, especially through attentiveness to prayer and
scripture.
Grow in Knowledge
Our focus is to read and discuss issues on how to spread the good news,
learning discussion points from various apologetics, learning about other
religions, learning, and practicing ‘our spiritual story’ as a group, and
learning and sharing experiences in our prayer and scripture life.
Spreading the Good News
A hallmark of FOM life is active participation in our primary mission of
spreading the good news of Jesus. Person-to-Person evangelization is
required and is always made in pairs.
