Welcome! The parish of St. John Neumann is a Catholic community of over 2,400 families located in the heart of Westlake at 5455 Bee Cave Road in Austin, Texas.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes

Mobile Loaves & Fishes Inc. is a social outreach ministry for the homeless. We were founded in 1998 by six parishioners as a ministry of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and became a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2000.

The idea of using catering trucks to distribute food was planted by a conversation one of our founders had with a fellow parishioner, and the rest, as they say, is history. He shared his idea with the other original founders, and before they knew it both prayers and cash were being offered in support.

The SJN MLF Commissary is run almost exclusively by volunteers (of all ages and talents) from the SJN parish and our surrounding community. Daily, there are volunteer Make-Ready and Truck teams that prepare and deliver food for the three trucks that go out every day of the year. There are a number of other teams that provide needed supplies and services to ensure that we have quality food and offer love and compassion to our brothers and sisters on the streets. Some of these teams are:

  • Egg Team members provide hard-boiled eggs for good nutrition.
  • Bread Ministry and Shoe Ministry volunteers pick up items from generous merchants.
  • Our Sandwiches & More Teams prepare lunches for veterans.
  • The Prayer Card Ministry creates keepsakes for the people we serve.
  • Teens earn service hours doing whatever needs to be done.
