Altar / Sacristy Ministry
Care for altar linens by laundering and pressing the linens used during the liturgy.

Altar Servers
Assist the presider during the celebration of the liturgy on Sunday and holy days.  Open to children in the fourth to 12th grades.

Boy Scout Troop 990 (*Partner Ministry)
Boys aged 10 to 17 learn duty to God, country and self through physical, mental and moral exercises and examples.

Capital Campaign Committee
Provide the opportunity for parishioners to participate in the Building of the Cornerstone of Christ Capital Campaign.

The Care Communities (*Partner Ministry)
“Adopt” AIDS and cancer patients within a team and help the patients with their day-to-day activities during difficult times.

Catholic Physicians Guild of Central Texas (*Partner Ministry)
Seek to unite the teachings of the Catholic faith with the science of the practice of medicine while helping fellow members grow in holiness, both personally and professionally.

Central Texas Fellowship of Catholic Men (*Partner Ministry)
Encourage and empower men to deepen their relationship with Christ, their families, their church and their community.  Foster faith in everyday life.

Challenge (*Partner Ministry)
Girls aged 10 to 16 learn to challenge themselves, others and the world in actively living their Christian faith.  Organize various projects and campaigns to answer the needs of today’s world.

Christ Renews His Parish Retreat Program
Experience personal spiritual growth and active participation in the Christian community of SJN by attending a weekend retreat.

Christian Medical Missions (*Partner Ministry)
Accompany medical teams to Central America to minister to indigenous people.  One-week trips throughout the year are offered.

Coffee and Donut Social Hosts
Host the coffee and donut social after 9 a.m. Mass on Sundays.

Communion Service Teams (Heritage at Gaines Ranch, Querencia, The Summit)
Bring older adults from assisted living rooms to Mass or Communion Service in one of these three retirement centers.  Bring Communion to Catholic residents at the homes who are unable to participate in the group setting.

Communion to the Sick
Assist with bringing Holy Communion to the parish’s homebound, ill or hospitalized parishioners on an as-needed basis.  Selection by application and appointment.  Open to confirmed members of our community.

Cub Scout Pack 990 (*Partner Ministry)
Boys in the first through fifth grades participate in games, skits, songs, crafts, outdoor adventures, service projects and ceremonies designed around values such as citizenship, cooperation, faith, honesty and respect.

Culture of Life Committee
Raise parish-wide awareness and educate on life issues according to Church teaching.  Organize new life-affirming activities to fill needs as identified by the parish.

EDGE leaders
Minister at religious education events for middle school youth, including youth group nights and trips.

Engaged Sponsor Couples
Work with the pastor, associate pastor or deacons to help prepare engaged couples for the sacrament of marriage.

Eucharistic Adoration
Spend time before the Blessed Sacrament in prayer on Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. in regular 30 to 60 minute time slots.

Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion
Assist with distribution of Holy Communion at Mass.  Selection by application and appointment.  Open to confirmed members of our community.  Training provided.

Faith Circle for High School Students
Meet in an adult facilitator’s home to discuss faith, what is means to you and how your faith relates to what is happening in the world.  Study includes Scripture study and Catholic Apologetics.

Faith in Action Caregivers Southwest (*Partner Ministry)
Enhance the well-being of our older adult neighbors who need assistance to remain independently in their homes.  Provide valuable non-medical services similar to that of other Austin-area caregiver groups.

Flower Guild
Responsible for obtaining and arranging flowers for the liturgy and other services.

Gift Shop
Work in SJN Gift Shop, ringing sales while also being able to help customers with their selections. Also should be willing to help unwrap and label inventory and assist with displays as needed.

Godly Play
Minister to preschool children, serving as greeters and storytellers during children’s religious education classes.

Greeters
Welcome parishioners and visitors to Mass each weekend and answer questions about parish life. Invite all people to experience the love of Jesus Christ by participating in our community through sacrament, ongoing renewal in the Catholic faith and creative service to those in need in our world.

Habitat for Humanity (*Partner Ministry)
Assist in building on to two homes per year for people in the Diocese of Austin by providing labor and / or food for the laborers.

K for J (Kids for Jesus) (*Partner Ministry)
Children in the first through fourth grades meet monthly and learn to work on teams, appreciate the gift of others, how to live an authentically Catholic life and are led by older role models.

Knights of Columbus (*Partner Ministry)
A fraternal organization for men 18 years old and up.  Focus on spirituality, service and fellowship.

Lay Missionaries of Charity (*Partner Ministry)
Follow the statues and way of life of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity to quench the thirst of Jesus on the cross for love and for souls by working toward our own holiness.  Live a life of prayer and adoration and offer free and wholehearted service to the poorest of the poor, beginning with your own families.

Life Teen volunteers
Present topics that matter to high school teens and offer experiences that involve responsible participation in the life and mission of the Catholic faith community.  Meet Sunday evenings.

Life Teen Choir
Provide uplifting, youth-oriented music for the Sunday 5:30 p.m. Mass.  Selections are drawn from a variety of Catholic and contemporary Christian sources.

Marriage Encounter Circle
Deepen your personal and spiritual growth as a married couple and enrich your marriage and family life after attending a Marriage Encounter Weekend offered by the Diocese of Austin.

Mary and Martha Guild
Provide hospitality and food for parishioners for special occasions and events.  Assist families with meals in their home when needed due to illness.

Miracle Foundation (*Partner Ministry)
Transform the lives of orphaned children by providing them a stable, loving, nurturing environment that empowers them to reach their full potential, one orphan at a time.  Volunteer opportunities range from office work, to working with children’s pictures and media to working directly with our children in India.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes (*Partner Ministry)
Provide food, clothing, dignity and much more to our homeless brothers and sisters in need.  Volunteer opportunities for all ages abound, ranging from cooking eggs, prayer card artistry, food prep, food delivery, special events, street retreats, disaster relief, to helping our Community First! program.

Music Ministry
Serve the Lord, his Church and his people by leading the congregation in worship and song at the Sunday 9 and 11:30 a.m. Masses.  Open to singers and instrumentalists of high school age and above.

OPUS, 50+ Fellowship
For parishioners age 50 and older to meet, welcome and help each other forge new friendships as they pray and play together in God’s wonderful world.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Committee
Plan the parish’s annual Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe events, held in December.

Parish Library volunteers
Help check out and return materials during parish office hours, after some Sunday Masses and upon volunteer availability.

RCIA Team
Partner with adult candidates as they prepare for initiation into the Catholic faith.  Volunteer opportunities include sponsors, hospitality and catechists.  Tuesday evenings throughout the year.

Religious Education volunteers
Offer solid Catholic teachings designed to form active, loving Catholic Christians.  Teach the Good News to school-aged children.

Readers
Proclaim the Word of God during the liturgy.  Open to all confirmed members of our community; selection by application and appointment.  Training provided.

Sacristans
Act as coordinator for the liturgy on Saturday, Sunday, holy days and special liturgies.  Prepare the gifts for the Eucharistic celebration and make ready the needed sacred vessels, Lectionary and Sacramentary books.

Saint Louise House (*Partner Ministry)
Support and empower women-led families with children to overcome homelessness in Central Texas. Keep families together by providing housing and supportive services that enable the women to overcome the obstacles that led them to becoming homeless.

Schoenstatt Movement (*Partner Ministry)
Provide a variety of activities for spiritually-grounded family life, ongoing self education, inner renewal and practical everyday models for faith-filled living in every stage of life.

Serra International (*Partner Ministry)
Foster and promote vocations to the ministerial priesthood of the Catholic Church and encourage members to fulfill their Christian vocations to serve.

St. Vincent de Paul Society (*Partner Ministry)
Serve the poor of Austin by listening and assisting in their spiritual needs as well as offering financial and food assistance.

Touching Hearts, Bridging Hope (*Partner Ministry)
Organize group mission trips for volunteers who are seeking to make a difference in the lives of the poor and less fortunate.

University Medical Center Brackenridge, Volunteer Services (*Partner Ministry)
Provide a welcoming presence, directions and information and help in patient care areas by doing such things as delivering food trays and water, stocking shelves, providing company for a lonely patient, transporting a discharged patient to their family car. Help with special projects created to show nurses how much the hospital cares, assist with quarterly events, serve as an Ambassador, help in the hospital volunteer services office, recruit or fund raise. All at University Medical Center Brackenridge.

Ushers
Assist the assembly during the liturgy with greeting, seating, collection and answering questions.  Training provided.

Vacation Bible School volunteers
Help school-aged children develop a friendship with Jesus, the Bible, the Church and each other during the half-day, one-week program, usually during June.

Venture Crew 2100 (*Partner Ministry)
Participate in co-ed outdoor scouting adventures with other youth aged 14 to 20.  Activities include camping in Colorado’s Wemuniche Wilderness, hiking in the Sierras and more.

Vocations Committee
Provide effective communication, events and contacts that promote and nurture religious vocations at St. John Neumann Catholic community. The call to follow Christ is an invitation to enter more fully into the life of Christ and the Church. This call is experienced in a variety of ways and our goal is to facilitate God’s calling. If you can’t join our committee, please pray to St. John Vianney, patron saint of priests, that the Holy Spirit will guide us in our mission.

Weekend Collection Counters
Prepare weekend collections for deposit on Monday mornings.

Welcoming Ministry
Welcome new parishioners by writing, phoning and visiting them.  Assist at periodic New Member Gatherings.

Young Adult Ministry
Support Catholics in their 20s and 30s (both married and single) in their desire to enter more deeply into a relationship with Christ through fellowship and formation in the Catholic faith. Sponsor regular spiritual, social and service activities.

*Partner Ministries: The work of evangelizing, serving the needy and supporting Catholic in their faith happens through many independent organizations.  A St. John Neumann Partner Ministry maintains a relationship with the parish but has an independent board and financing.
