EDGE Nights
EDGE Nights are directed by the youth ministry department for our middle school youth. They occur on Wednesday evenings, except when noted. EDGE Nights are a dynamic large group and small group mix where teens are challenged to embrace their faith and make it their own. In an environment of safety and fun, the evangelization and catechesis of the young Church will take place. This is where they are fed the truths of the Catholic faith and build strong community with one another.
Types of EDGE Nights
The EDGE is not just a place for fun and games. It is a relationship-building, community experience of our faith. The EDGE develops the curriculum in three different types of EDGE Nights: Topic Nights, Issue Nights and Social Nights.
Topic Nights
These EDGE Nights follow our catichetical theme for the semester. Each semester has a different topic that follows a scope and sequence over a three year curriculum framework for middle schooers.
Issue Nights
Issue Nights cover special topics in our community or general topics in the lives of middle schoolers that are important to address. Each semester will have at least two Issue Nights incorporated within the curriculum. Sometimes these Nights fit into the overall curriculum topic, and sometimes they do not. This is important to be relevant to their lives and to shed the light of the Gospel on these issues.
Social Nights
From basic get-to-know-you type Nights, to increasing small group intimacy; from a big fun-and-games Night, to welcoming a new class, these fellowship building EDGE Nights are important for middle school ministry. Social Nights have the unique focus on the community, building levels of trust between youth and Core and among the young students. These are just as important as the Topic and Issue Nights!
