EDGE
How do you change the tone of the whole youth culture in Westlake Hills? You reach out to middle schooler students.
Developing a strong middle school youth ministry program is essential for changing our community. Temptations that were in the past reserved for high school or college students are swarming around sixth, seventh and eighth graders. As the Catholic community, we need to be a rock of stability in their lives and speak the truth of Christ into this situation.
Our answer is The EDGE.
The EDGE is a night of praise and worship, food, fun and faith for all middle school students grade six through eight. EDGE Nights are led primarily by a trained Core Team of adults from our community and are backed up by well-formed teen assistants, united to their youth director. The community ministers to, and is ministered by, the middle school students. They both serve as mentors for the middle school students in how they live their lives through Christ’s teachings.
The EDGE Nights are every Wednesday and are held in both the St. Timothy Room and Morris Hall. The time is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. We will have a mix of large group and small groups, which enables teens to have fun in the crowds but also experience the intimacy of a small group of friends. The more Core Members we have, the smaller and more effective our small groups can be, so sign up today to help out!
Cost is $65 per person for the year, not including special events, retreats or camps. No teen, however, will ever be turned away due to lack of funds.
